Case 91: Injury with angle grinder

A 42 year old man presented after an injury at work whilst using a cutting disc on an angle grinder. He held his hand in this posture.

1. What structure has this man injured?

The extensor tendon to his right middle finger. This can be seen by the characteristic hand posture when asking the patient to extend his fingers.
